News and Fixtures  up to date Black Board for Season 2010/11

Saturday 28th August Season 210/11 kicked off with 1 win and 2 loses over the weekend ,

Div 1 Sat was our only winner with a 2-0 win over Skerries Town it could have been 6 but the lad's missed chance after chance and we got the feeling it could have been one of those games but the deadlock was broken by Ian Fellows midway through the second half with a cracking strike,
The lad's ran out easy winners in the end and well worth their first 3 points of the season.

No luck in the other two games of the weekend with Celtic Park winning 3-1 on Sunday
Rinermeade also 3-1 winners on Saturday'
No worries lad's it's a long season.

Not a great day for the lad's 2 down after 25 minutes went 3-2 up after 70 minutes but lost out in the end 5-3 with a string of injuries
to Eoin,Sam,Shane.

Division 1
Clontarf FC 2 v Kilmore Cel 2           St Annes,11.0,T Coombes
A cracking game with table toppers and undefeated 4 in a row winners Kilmore Celtic saw our lad's come from 2 down go grab a super draw .

Sunday 5 September (11.0)

Division 1
St Aidans 2 v Clontarf  FC 2                    Jobstown Pk,JJ Walsh
Ross Cramer, John Greenhan

Clontarf 2 down after 20 minutes our keeper sent off but the lad's battled back to gain a  great 2-2 draw.

Clontarf FC 5 v Fenstanton 1                          St Annes,S Brady
Ian Bergin, Paddy Campbell, Mike Ikhana,Glen, Nial Barry

Top class as the lad's cruised to a crushing  5-1 win over Fenstanton but this game was hard going for the first 20 minutes as it remained 0-0 . then the gates opened after that with 2 goals that need a mention.
Ian Bergin's corner and straight in for lets say a well judged goal.
Then we come to the goal of the game or even the season , Paddy Campbell picked the ball up just inside his own half made a little burst into Fenstantons half and then with a thunder bolt of a left foot shot cracked it past the keeper.
If there is a better goal this season , I hope I see it.

RESULTS

Premier Division

Clontarf FC 5 v Celtic Pk 1  Not a lot to say about this game , the  lads outclassed Celtic  from the off
and their first 3 points of the season was a welcome result. Sam O Neill 2 Ger Donagh 2 Brian Reid 1
Division 1

Portrane Ath 1 v Clontarf FC 1 The word from Rod on this game was a series of missed chances but an away point that should have been 3. Glen Grenahan 1

Sunday 12 September (11.0)

Division 1

Boca Seniors 0 v Clontarf FC 3 The result looks good but this was a hard fought game with Boca well in it right through the first half and again in the second they could have drawn closer with a few  chances that just went the wrong side of the posts but the lad's plugged away and deserved a very good result.
Gino Ladola 2. James Hart 1

Division 3
Clontarf FC  3 v Club Everton 3 If ever you went to a game then came away and thought to yourself what just went wrong , well this was the game that went badly wrong.
Cruising 3 - 1 and it could have been 6 with only 15 minutes to go and the wheels just fell off ;
It all started when Harry went down with a nasty tackle on his foot and had to leave the pitch and in the next few minutes the game just fell apart with Everton scoring twice in as many minutes.
A point won but the lad's left 2 points behind.
Highlight of the day was a wonderful sweeping goal from one end of the pitch to the other and a super header by Mike to finish it off.
My view man of the match Glen Ahearn with 2 goals .

Leinster Junior Shield Sunday--Clontarf FC  2 v Clara Town 3 October 3rd

The Bulls suffered a shock home defeat at the hands of Clara Town on a muddy and damp laden pitch at the back end of St Annes .
Not a good day at office for our Div 3 side who lost by the odd goal to our visitors from Clara Town
The day started at 8am when Paul McGuirk switched the game from our home pitch to a mud laden No 2 in St Annes , not a good start,
Gerrry braved the bad weather ,got the nets up on time and was ready to go by 1030 .
On the other hand Clara Town got lost and ended up in Howth so I had to hit the road to try and find them , which I did after a nice
little tour of north Dublin.
Ref not happy but we did kicked off at 1110 .
Now over the last few weeks I have seen the lad's improved to be a really good side but yesterday i hate to say wheels fell off.

The game was about 15 minutes in when the ref went missing or should I say missed an off-side, not only was one of Clara lad's
off side but there was two a country mile off-side but he gave the goal .
Now for some reason the lad's just stopped playing football ,our passing got  very sloppy , it was vitally important  to get back into this game
quickly but it never happened , was it the muddy ground ? well what ever the reason things just went from bad to worse when Clara scored the second goal.
It was an up hill battle from here on ,the lad's did get one back but they were chasing the game and conceded no 3 .
I would have to say this was a poor performance but every defeat makes you stronger and there was some joy with a super strike from Nial Barry
This is a young squad and they have the talent to improve as they have done over the last season .
Final word, what is important is that when we dominate games that we are efficient defensively and not give away silly goals like the third one yesterday.

Newtown Celtic 2 v Clontarf FC 1  Belcamp Park  3rd October .  Michael Hempelstall

Premier Saturday   Clontarf FC 4 V Shelbourne SSC 1 Sam O Neill 2, Eoin O' Traynor, Shane Cavanagh

Div 1 Saturday  Elm Mount FC 2 V  Clontarf FC 4 Cox, Byrne, Kearney, Julian
Saturday 25 September (3.0)

Premier Division RESULT

Balrothery FC 2  v Clontarf FC 2  Dreadful first 20 minutes we were lucky to be only 2 down
We then got into the game  defended well and played all the football
Penalty for Sam left us 2-1 down 20 minutes left ;
Sam missed a great chance to equalise with 10 left after a terrific through header from Eoin.
Eoin volleyed from a corner to get a well deserved draw.

Division 1 RESULT

Wyteleaf Utd  3 v Clontarf FC 2 Not much to say about this game 3-1 down after 15 minutes the lads fought back but could not find the extra goal , hitting the woodwork 4 times ,2 penno claims turned down and Philip Kearney limped off with a nasty knee twist.
The lad's had at least 75% of the game in the second half and the ball never found the net.
Striker required.

Sunday 26 September (11.0)

Division 3

Priorswood  v Clontarf FC RESULT     Sorry I missed this game but what a win 4-3 was a great result  and  word has it that this game might just have the goal of the season .
Ian Bergin I was told scored a cracker bur no replay on the telly so I will leave it to the few  that was lucky enough to see the game.
Mike scored again , Jay Hester and Glen

RESULT
Leinster Junior Cup Sunday-- First Round Clontarf FC 2 Div 1 Sunday  v  2 St Cormacs Wexford
Clontarf won 9-8 after a peno shoot out.

Well this one I was at and what a game it was , it brought me back to the glory day's of Clontarf when the Bulls Roared at every game.
This was a smashing game of soccer played at a breakneck speed ,
From the off the lad's tore into the Wexford team but they gave as good as they got ,infact they were the better side in the first half and  as luck would have it Clontarf scored first but St Cormacs came back to make it 1-1 at half time and to honest Wexford should have been ahead at half time.
Jack lost the head at half  time and called for a bigger efford in the second half and by God did he get it , the years rolled back as the Bulls Roared once again tearing into every tackle ,chasing every ball and in possession playing some super football and it payed off 10 minutes from time the lad's went ahead and the side line erupted, but as they say it's never until it's over and the Wexford lad's broke our hearts when they scored to make it 2-2 with only minutes left in the game.
Extra time ten minutes each and still no result.
Then the peno shoot out Wexford went first and after a nail biting 8-8 it was left to our goalkeeper  to be the hero of the day and  slot the ball past his opposite number  Clontarf won 9-8 .
These old eyes of mine look forward to the next battle and the rise and rise of Clontarf FC.
WELL DONE LAD'S A SUPER GAME.

CFC Division 1                               CFC 0 v  Wyteleaf Utd 0
CFC Division 3                               CFC 5 v  Kill Celtic 1

The highlight of the weekend football must be the Div 3 trashing of Kill Celtic in St Annes where Glen Ahearn scored four times in a one sided game with Mike dancing his way through the defence to grab the the 5th.
The lad's totally outclased Kill and played the best football of the season so far.
The four Goal feast must make Glen the Man of the Match but from my point of view it was a close call
as Andy Moore played his socks off providing three assists for glen and set up a string of chances.
The new formation worked well and the lad's looked like a well drilled team, but don't let this one go to your head it's a long season and this is just the start of the hard work.
Well done a great result.
